Essay Topic:

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) & Apple, Inc. are currently in a controversial stalemate. Recently there was an FBI-induced court order for Apple to unlock the iPhone 5c owned by the San Bernardino Massacre shooter. The FBI wants Apple to provide them with a weaker version of Apple’s operating system that will allow the FBI to crack device passcodes. The FBI believes hacking into phones will help improve national security. Apple believes weakening encryption will only hurt consumers and other well-meaning users who rely on companies like Apple to protect their personal information. Should Apple comply with or refuse to give the FBI the ability to hack their cellphones? Provide support for your perspective on this issue.
